RUNANGA DEPUTY SELWYN PARATA COMING TO BRISBANE 30.04.08
Written by Te Karere
Saturday, 19 April 2008
The Runanga Deputy Chairman, Selwyn Parata will be travelling to Sydney for an Ngati Porou Wananga organised by our whanaunga in Sydney from the 1st -3rd may, 2008.

It is appropriate for our Kaihautu, Amohaere Houkamau to accompany him and make the most of the cost of travelling to Australia, by trying to organise meetings with Nati's in Brisbane on Wednesday 30 April 2008, before heading to Sydney.

We are also looking to meet with Nati's in Melbourne on the 4th May, prior to returning to Gisborne on the 5th May.

We will be having a hui on the 30th April in Brisbane for the Ngatiporou whanau living there and are interested in what type of ‘take' they wish to have answered or bought to the table to discuss.

We have a few kaupapa that we would like to share information on, such as the;

Ngati Porou History, Whakapapa and Waiata

Ngati Porou Cultural, Economic, Environmental and Social developments

Ngati Porou Foreshore & Seabed negotiations

Treaty Settlement.

This is a great chance to keep those living away from home to keep up with the latest news and the general direction in which the Runanga is moving.

There are exciting times ahead and we are confident that we have the right people in position to achieve our aims. It's going to take a lot of courage, patience and understanding from everyone these are part of the reasons we leave no one out of the loop.

Na reira haeremai e te iwi kia kohikohi ai e tatou nga mea e pirangi ana ki te korero.

                                                 "Kaore he mea e kore e taea ki Ngati Porou"

                                               "There is nothing impossible to Ngati Porou"
